Because we wish to shape the future of work in Romania

On October 23, on the occasion of HR Club's 20th anniversary, we invite you to look towards the future, starting with an analysis of the current situation, both economically and societally, and to answer as many questions as possible.

Session 1 - SHARE

  • Trust and distrust are part of the dynamics of any society and, on a smaller scale, of any organization. What are the trust-related dilemmas faced by Romanians? How are these dilemmas reflected in psychological safety within organizations?
  • How do we approach diversity & inclusion at a strategic level? How do we build D&I to be relevant in business?

 Session 2 - CARE

  • Are we making the right choices when it comes to technology? Are we using technological advancements as tools for empowerment, democratization, and progress for everyone?
  • The art of crafting precise requests to AI, known as Prompt Engineering, will become a key capability for the HR function. How do we make informed decisions supported by AI, transparently and ethically?

Session 3 - DARE

  • Would you liket to meet your future colleagues from 2030 and discover what their ideal workday looks like? Come meet them and let's build together HR processes adapted for them.

All this will be featured on the stage at the Share|Care|Dare Conference by HR Club on October 23, 2024!

Detalii sesiuni

Mistrust in Romania

Radu Umbres will address the main theme of his book, "Neincrederea. Cum functioneaza Romania profunda" ("Mistrust: How Deep Romania Works"), exploring the reasons why the inhabitants of a Romanian village trust almost exclusively those with whom they have personal relationships (family and relatives), viewing others with suspicion and distrust. The ethnographic research reveals how adaptive mental inclinations interact with ecology, history, economy, politics, and religion. Certain mechanisms can explain particularities or widespread phenomena throughout Romania, including in urban areas.

A high level of social trust fosters well-being and development, but trust cannot be artificially imposed. Justified suspicion protects against the dangers of unfounded trust. Elements of pre-modern rurality, visible even in the business environment or large organizations, suggest that individuals, whether in villages or corporations, face the same dilemmas related to trust. Although mistrust did not originate in the village, it has been deeply experienced there over time, offering us valuable lessons about things we recognize in our contemporary world.

In the second part of the session, Anca Florea, partner Trendcertified in the Fearless Organisation Scan methodology, will discuss with Radu Umbres about increasing psychological safety in organizations, starting from trust-related issues.

Strategic Evidence-Based Approach to Diversity and Inclusion for Reducing "Blind Spots"

The keynote speech by Seon-Young Rang will explain why evidence-based management of diversity and inclusion is crucial. We will discuss the following topics:

  • How to make D&I relevant for business;
  • The four dimensions of data-driven D&I strategies;
  • Not everything is won or lost: why it's not advisable to tackle everything at once;
  • Caution on what should not be done;
  • Case studies.

Employee versus AI

Valentin Lazea, Chief Economist of the National Bank of Romania, will base his presentation on the book "Power and Progress" by Daron Acemoglu and Simon Johnson, which explores the relationship between technological innovations, the distribution of power, and economic and social progress. The book critically examines how technology has influenced society throughout history, highlighting not only its benefits but also the potential pitfalls that may arise.

Technology, though promising and capable of transforming economies and people's lives, does not automatically guarantee equitable progress. Decisions regarding how technology is used are crucial and must be made in the interest of the majority, not just the elites.

Survival Tactics for HR Executives in the AI Era: Navigating Prompt Engineering and ChatGPT

In the AI era, HR functions are undergoing radical transformation, with the potential to automate repetitive processes and enhance operational efficiency. Prompt engineering, the art of crafting precise requests to AI, is becoming essential for maximizing interactions and obtaining relevant outcomes. Informed decisions supported by AI are crucial for gaining a competitive advantage, but they must be made in a transparent and ethical manner to avoid bias and protect data confidentiality.

The session led by Andreea Bulisache will provide participants with the context for an ethical and transparent approach. Attendees will gain a clear vision of how to navigate and thrive in a dynamic and complex HR landscape marked by the rapid rise of AI technologies. Topics covered will include:

  • A quick overview of the evolution of AI in HR and its current impact.
  • Prompt Engineering: Techniques and practices for crafting effective prompts essential for AI interactions.
  • Informed Decision-Making: How AI supports strategic HR decisions, ensuring transparency and ethics.
  • Challenges and Ethics: A discussion on the risks associated with algorithmic biases and data confidentiality.

GenZlandia – Meet Your New Colleagues from 2030!

GenZlandia, the younger sibling of Joblandia, is a project dedicated to exploring the future of Generation Z, a generation that will become a significant part of the workforce in the next decade. We developed this project between April and September 2024 in collaboration with Future Station, a company specializing in Foresight—the discipline for studying the future. While Joblandia aimed to help high school students find the profession that suits them, GenZlandia is designed to help us, the HR professionals in HR Club member organizations, prepare for the future!

A working group of 20 members from the HR Club community (including GenZ-ers) worked under the coordination of Diana Stafie from Future Station to define future personas—types of young people who could be our colleagues or collaborators in 2030. We initially aimed for 4 personas, but ended up with 6! These six potential future personas will be introduced to the public through a workbook (or playbook, because it sounds fancier) that invites action and preparation for the future of work.

During the GenZlandia Session at the Share|Care|Dare Conference, you'll have the chance to meet these six personas for the first time and contribute in a world café-style session to identify the "moments of truth" for each of them in three key HR processes:

  • Recruitment and onboarding
  • Performance management
  • Career path.

Isn't that cool?
