Aceasta carte publicata cu sprijinul Organizatiei Mondiale a Sanatatii are la baza o colectie de lucrari si prezentari folosite la un simpozion ce a avut loc in iunie 1996 in Finlanda, pe tema anxietatii tot mai accentuate datorate schimbarilor ce au loc pe piata muncii. Autorii acestor lucrari sunt diferiti specialisti din domeniul economic, epidemiologic, al serviciilor si politicilor de sanatate, stiintelor sociale, sau al cercetarilor de piata. In general, acestia au analizat impactul asupra sanatatii individului al insecuritatii locului de munca, argumentand nevoia unor politici guvernamentale de promovare a programelor de sanatate a angajatilor.
