Aceasta directiva a Consiliului Uniunii Europene numarul 97/81/EC din 15 decembrie 1997 are drept scop asigurarea unui tratament echitabil al angajatilor cu forme de flexibile de munca, comparabil cu personalul cu norma intreaga, pe durat? nedeterminata. Aceasta urmareste sa elimine obstacolele ce pot aparea in aplicarea fractiunii de norma, de aceea recomanda angajatorilor sa adopte anumite masuri, astfel incat sa tina cont de preferintele angajatilor in ceea ce priveste programul de lucru flexibil.
