Aceasta Directiva a Consiliului European nr. 2010/18/EU din 8 martie 2010 reglementeaza noile conditii de acordare a concediului de paternitate la nivelul statelor din Uniunea Europeana, axandu-se in principal pe acordarea de drepturi suplimentare barbatilor cu statut de "tata". Aceasta reprezinta un mijloc de a sustine un echilibru intre viata profesionala a angajatilor barbati si responsabilitatile lor parentale, precum si de promovare a egalitatii de tratament intre barbati si femei.
