Aceasta Directiva a Consiliului European stabileste cerintele minime cu privire la munca pe durata determinata, cu scopul de a asigura un tratament egal al tuturor angajatilor si, de asemenea, pentru a preveni abuzurile posibile prin folosirea contractelor de munca sau raporturilor de munca de acest tip succesive. Stabileste noi clauze si standarde pe care statele membre ar trebui sa le ia in considerare in cadrul legislatiei nationale. In plus, face un scurt istoric al aparitiei nevoii adoptarii acestui document pe piata reglementarilor legale la nivel european.
